Four Generations of a Family Legacy

The Forest of Dean has been home to the Bell family’s construction legacy for over half a century, spanning four generations of dedicated individuals in the industry. Amelia Bird, the latest member of this industrious family, has recently embarked on an exciting journey by beginning her apprenticeship in Construction Support with AccXel Construction School.

Amelia’s mother, Nicola Bird, is not just any construction enthusiast; she is the Founder and CEO of AccXel, a thriving construction school that has made significant strides under her leadership. She runs the company alongside her sister, Natalie, and receives invaluable support from her parents and grandparents, making it a true family endeavour.

This incredible lineage of construction professionals traces its roots back to the family patriarch, Keith Bell. Over fifty years ago, Keith Bell founded KW Bell, which has since grown into a group encompassing multiple companies, employing more than 500 individuals, and boasting an impressive annual turnover of over £50 million.

Amelia Bird, the latest torchbearer of this venerable tradition, is enthusiastically embracing her apprenticeship in the construction industry. She is not only passionate about the industry but also about breaking barriers. As a result, she is documenting her experiences on social media under the handle “Building Birdie.” She plans to share her insights and experiences as a woman in the predominantly male-dominated construction field.

Nicola Bird, CEO of AccXel Construction School, shared her excitement about her daughter’s journey: “It’s incredibly heart-warming to see Amelia taking up the mantle in our family’s long-standing tradition. We are proud of her determination and her commitment to breaking stereotypes. The construction industry needs diversity, and Amelia is a beacon of inspiration.”

As Amelia begins her apprenticeship, Building Birdie is set to become a source of motivation and insight for those aspiring to enter the construction field, especially for women seeking to make their mark in this industry.

The family’s four-generation legacy is a testament to their unwavering commitment to construction and their determination to pave the way for future generations. Amelia’s journey, as documented by Building Birdie, is set to inspire and encourage others to follow their passions, break down barriers, and pursue careers in traditionally male-dominated industries.
